Table of Contents

Orcs were described in Dungeons & Dragons as savages and barbaric creatures. They raid settlements through organized assaults and ambushes. But they have utmost fear in violating their beliefs and superstitions, therefore making them easy targets for manipulation and control. There are instances that Human warlocks take over and lead Orcish tribes to be united within a battle. Some Orc tribes propose alliances with strong human cities or settlements that they fail to invade to fight a common enemy. If Orc invasion is proven to be fearsome, an alliance of Orc and Humans is more formidable. Successful campaigns of Orcs and Humans often lead to a longer relationship between the tribes through marriages… of Orc and Humans, of course. And ta-dah! Half-Orcs are born.

In this guide, we’ll discuss further the Half-Orc race. What makes them different from their Orc brothers? Or are they not different at all? We’ll be able to see how their human blood affected their lives and create appropriate names for them. You’ll be guided to our Best Male and Female Half-Orc names and Best Class-Specific Half-Orc names. There’s also a bonus Funny Half-Orc names and a ranking of our Top Half-Orc Names Suggestions at the end of this guide.

An Evil Within

No Orc escapes the influence and grasp of Gruumsh One-Eye, the Orc creator. This includes the Half-Orcs because of their Orc blood, though their Human heritage limits this influence. Some of them gradually hear Gruumsh whispers in their dreams and calls them to unleash their rage. Some Half-Orcs experience a rush of adrenaline in battle as if they are excited to kill someone, and later on, feel anguish upon their uncontrolled actions.

Half-Orcs are not entirely evil, but evil is born within them. They can only either turn their backs from it or embrace it whole. Unlike their Orc cousins, Half-Orcs have control of their emotions. They do not just feel rage and impulses, but they can suppress and control it. Insults against them are either effective or not. They can ignore it or treat it personally. They can feel sadness and are mournful for their fallen friends. But Half-Orcs are Humans too. They laugh lively and happily at jokes and fun pleasures. They like to drink, feast, and wrestle with their companions. They even dance and sing as any human would do. Half-Orcs are also short-tempered, thanks to their Orcish blood, and may tend to fight more than argue just to prove a point.

Half-Orcs have grayish skin color, broad foreheads, protruded jaws and teeth, and has a strong and tall body build. Like their Orc cousins, they consider their scars as an ornament and pride depicting their experience in battle. But there are scars that they wish to hide from others, such as one that resulted from slavery or exile. These are marks of humiliation and defeat and they hide it in shame.

Among all the races, Half-Orcs are the most likely to be accepted by Humans. Most Half-Orcs live within Human lands while few live with isolated Orc tribes. Although there are humans who despise Half-Orcs because of bitter experiences and violence from Orc raids. They stereotype Half-Orcs and brand them evil like their Orc cousins. But Half-Orcs are determined to gain acceptance and a place in the world. Some of them are reserved and preferred to be left alone, keeping attention to themselves. Others display piety through good deeds. The rest grow tough and scary to intimidate others to avoid them.

Below is the summary of Half-Orc’s racial features and traits.
