The loyal disciples of Illidan Stormrage, the Demon Hunters of World of Warcraft are the embodiment of fel and chaotic magics designed to challenge the Burning Legion. The Illidari Demon Hunters embraced the practices of Illidan Stormrage in transmuting fel and chaotic magics in their bodies to empower themselves and develop demonic traits. The first set of Demon Hunters made an oath to Illidan to use their newly gained powers in following his path and utilizing their chaos against the Legion. They have undergone a painful ritual to blind themselves in exchange for spectral visions that allow them to prey on the demons they wish to extinguish. Their bodies became tormented and corrupted, sprouting demonic wings and horns which, in turn, gave them great agility and demonic capabilities, making them a formidable opponent in battle.
In this guide, we’ll tackle a brief history of the Demon Hunters. Readers will be guided to a list of our Top Male and Female Demon Hunter Names. Becoming a Demon Hunter
Illidan Stormrage was the first Demon Hunter to exist in Azeroth. He transformed into a demon when he consumed the fel energies of the Skull of Gul’dan to defeat dreadlord Tichondrius. During his escape in Outland, numerous Night Elves sought him for they lost everything since the invasion of the Burning Legion. These elves devoted themselves to avenging their race against the Legion. On the other hand, numerous squads of Blood Elves became demon hunters as they were sent by Prince Kael’thas himself.
It is said that only one out of every five elves survive the Demon Hunter ritual. Those with a weak heart and will became consumed with fel energies and became insane or commit suicide. The Demon Hunter training begins with the trainee slaying a demon, eating its heart, and drinking its blood. The ingested demon will bond with the host and corrupt their souls effectively receiving visions of the Burning Legion. With the horrors, they experience when gaining visions of the Burning Legion, they started to tear their eyes out and are put into a coma. The fel energies flowing in their bodies will start to mutate their physical characteristics such as gaining scales, horns, and claws. When they awaken, their spectral sight will start to emerge and they are granted sealing tattoos to refrain their inner demon from overwhelming their minds. To keep themselves free from their inner demonic thoughts, they mark their bodies with additional arcane runes to counter overflowing fel energies.
Demon Hunters always crave fel power and demonic flesh and they always live with torment from the ritual they experienced. Few Demon Hunters succumb to the fel energy and became demons themselves and lash out to any living beings. Taking this Metamorphosis form is a dangerous choice because it risks them from being devoured in mind by the demonic will within them, taking over their bodies.
Demon Hunter Appearance
Demon Hunters’ base forms are either Night Elf or Blood Elf. They have horns that vary differently in terms of shapes, style, and size. Demon Hunter rituals are unique for each elf who undertake them, therefore their fel tattoo patterns are different and specific for each Demon Hunter. A Demon Hunter assuming a Metamorphosis form only retain their unique tattoo and hair color. A Havoc Demon Hunter will start to sprout demonic wings from their backs and will have a shadowy aura in their faces, while a Vengeance Demon Hunter will grow demonic spikes in their backs with the presence of fel energies burning between the horns. Their claws become sharper and their feet are more beastly.
